Primary ritual for Shitalsasthi Yatra performed in Sambalpur

Sambalpur,May 4:Primary ritual for Shitalasasthi Yatra in Sambalpur has begun on Tuesday. The ritual named 'Thala Utha parva' was performed in all the temples of Lord Shiva in the afternoon. The Thala Utha ritual is performed on Akshya Tritiya. Accordingly, the locals of Sambalpur along with different Shiva temple managing committees performed puja in the morning. The Shitalasasthi Yatra Committee members accompanied by members of temple committees took out a procession in the evening, in order to select Parents for goddess Parvati, who will offer their daughter to lord Shiva after a divine knot, on the Shitalsasthi festival. Following this, the procession went round the residential areas for mobilization of funds for the mass festival.
