Postmortem lingers: Family waits three days for the body in Kendrapara

Kendrapara, Sep 15: A family has waited for more than three days before the mortuary of Kendrapara hospital for a body as the postmortem hung on. The family members of Bishnu Charan Sahu who died in a road mishap on Saturday alleged so. According to their complaint, Bishnu Charan, a native of Chandanpur village under Pattamundai police limit, died in a road accident at Garapur. {"id":137532,"sizeSlug":"full","linkDestination":"none"} Subsequently, his body was seized from the spot by Kendrapara Medical outpost police. Later on it was handed over to the Sadar police for undertaking its autopsy. However, the postmortem was delayed for more than three days. At the same time, the body was lying inside the hospital mortuary. The bereaved family appealed the hospital authorities to expedite the postmortem but it vain. “Police have not furnished the requisite documents so far. Postmortem will be executed  after compliance”, said the medical officials. Getting no ways out, the family members of the deceased were seen to be waiting for the body before the mortuary in order to perform the last rites as soon as possible.
