Police propose to confiscate assets worth Rs 2.34 crore including three dogs belonging to Odisha drugs mafia

Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: Khordha police has sent a proposal to the competent authority under NDPS Act in Kolkata for confiscation of assets worth about Rs 2.34 crore owned by notorious drugs smuggler Paku alias Somanath Bhujabal. The properties include three dogs of popular foreign breed costing around Rs 50000. Besides police has also sought confiscation of building worth Rs 1.10 crore, gold ornaments worth Rs 13.5 lakh, cash worth Rs 3.45 lakh and as many as 11 vehicles. Police said that Bhujabal and his father are currently lodged in Puri jail after being arrested in an excise case by Baselisahi police station in Puri in October 2020. “As many as 18 cases have been registered against Bhujabal by police and excise officials of Puri and Khordha districts. He has made huge wealth out of drugs trade,” said an official.
