Arun Joshi PM’s call to counter attempts tarnishing image of India is a wakeup call for countrymen By Arun Joshi For the first time in his more than seven and half years of rule , Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cautioned the countrymen of the attempts being made to tarnish image of India at the international level, though he left it unsaid as to what the narration of such anti-India elements was , but it was clear that he was talking about those who have distorted facts about Kashmir and overall polity of this nation . In that sense, it was a timely caution; the country’s image matters to all the people living on this land, their culture, ethos and the political choices they make.. There has been a persistent effort to undermine India’s democracy and civilizational values . These designs have gained pace ever since Modi returned to power in 2019 and abrogation of Article 370 , start of construction of Ram Temple and the massive vaccination campaign undertaken across the country and helping other nations in fight against the coronavirus . On Thursday when Prime Minister Narendra Modi regretted the tendency to tarnish the image of India at the international level , he , for sure, was talking about the adverse media reports about the country appearing in the west as also a sort of coalition arrayed against the country spotlighting what they call its new fault lines and “ decline in democracy “. The attempts at the international level , which Prime Minister pointed out in his address to Braham Kumaris ,could not have come at a better time to make the countrymen and the world aware of nefarious designs against India .. There is absolutely no doubt that this is not politics , it’s the “ question of our country.” The country is not one community, or one geography , it is primarily name of our centuries-old civilization and the spirit of democracy embedded in its soil and the humanity living on it. Some of the incidents, and some of the spoken words have been formed as the basis for an onslaught on the idea of India . The plot is simple , to demonise India and its people, particularly at a time when a strong leadership is leading the country and has shown its mettle in fighting the pandemic by vaccinated more than 1.5 billion people . This is nearly one-fifth of the world population . Hence, India has not only vaccinated its people but also helped the world in its fight against the pandemic and keep it safe from the devastation that the virus could have caused.. The ugly incidents and hate speeches to which the western media and others refer to give a twist to launch a concerted assault on India on the lines that the minorities were feeling insecure , dissent is being stifled , and the peaceful demonstrations are demonised . some of such so called champions of the human rights have not hesitated in sounding an alarm that “ genocide is a real possibility in India”. Some of them have made the abrogation of Article 370 that granted special status and privileges to the permanent residents of the erstwhile Muslim-majority state of Jammu and Kashmir and its bifurcation into two federally administered union territories as their line of argument against India, forgetting that J&K is an integral part of India. These measures were taken by the Parliament of the country representing voice of the Indians . This was a piece of amendment , approved by the Indian parliament , and if certain measures were taken to save the people from coming to streets and clashing with the paramilitary forces , the fact and the intention remain unappreciated . This has come as a convenient tool in the hands of the adversaries to put country in the bad light . Narendra Modi , as Prime Minister of India, fulfilled his responsibility toward the nation, when he raised this critical issue .Those attempting to damage are working on a multi-purpose design ; to defame India to inject a sense of inferiority complex among people so that they develop self-doubts , undermine the legitimacy of the government and its style of governance , and , of course , there is a clear scheme of things to hurt its image. The international community , as he stressed, needs to be told what the country is, and that they should see for themselves . This is time to wake up to the realities and allow the international players , including the critics to come and see for themselves as to what all India has gained all these 75 years and how the whole thing is moving at a pace. India is moving ahead , this is evoking envy , which is being converted into a strategy to hit India below the belt.. This is more dangerous than the actual war . Here, the words of Prime Minister reminding the countrymen that ,” it is also our responsibility that the world should know India properly.” .
