Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: Ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday appointed Aul MLA Pratap Keshari Deb as election observer of the party for Pipili Assembly constituency.
“Pratap Keshari Dev, MLA is hereby appointed as Election Observer of Biju Janata Dal for Pipli Assembly Constituency with immediate effect,” said an orded issued by the BJD.
As of now no party has announced its candidate for the seat. In the meantime, Pratibha Maharathy, wife of late BJD MLA Pradeep Maharathy has expressed her interest for BJD candidature. However, she said that BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik’s decision is final.
Notably, Pipili MLA Pradeep Maharathy succumbed to post Covid complicacies on October 4 last year.
Earlier, the Chief Election Commission had given green signal to conduct election for Pipili Assembly constituency in the state.
