Amit Shah stresses on peaceful elections for restoring statehood in J&K

New Delhi, June 24: The delimitation exercise and peaceful elections are important milestones in restoring statehood as promised in parliament, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said after the all-party meeting. Today’s meeting on Jammu and Kashmir was conducted in a very cordial environment. Everyone expressed their commitment to democracy and the constitution. It was stressed to strengthen the democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir, said Shah. We are committed to ensure all round development of J&K. Both PM & HM said the work for elections and restoring statehood should start soon. Azad Sahib said that first statehood should be restored and then elections should be held. On this PM didn't say anything, news agency ANI quoted Omar Abdullah. A crucial meeting convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was held today with the attendance of 14 leader of Jammu and Kashmir to discuss the future political course of action. It was the first meeting between the Centre and mainstream political parties of Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
