Passenger bus in Odisha slapped fine of Rs 6.72 lakh

Boudh, March 5: Transport officials in the district today imposed a whopping penalty of Rs 6.72 lakh on a private passenger bus for violating various regulations under the amended MV Act. Transport officials said that the fine amount was the highest ever since the amended MV Act was implemented in the state. As per reports, the bus was imposed the whopping penalty on multiple violations including plying without registration, without fitness certificate, invalid permit, without insurance and non-payment of MV tax from March 01, 2018 to March 01, 2020. Transport officials said that the bus named ‘Minar’ has been plying between Bhubaneswar and Boudh and the owner of the bus is a resident of Bhubaneswar. Transport officials have also seized the passenger bus.
