Paris, July 31: Indian badminton players and woman boxer Lovlina Borgohain will be in focus on Day 5 of the Paris Olympics 2024, here on Wednesday.
It is expected to be a big day for shuttlers Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy and PV Sindhu, who would play their group stage matches. Considering the schedule, it would be a do-or-die situation for all of them.
India would also expect boxers Lovlina Borgohain and Nishant Dev to win their bouts and advance to the next rounds.
Indian archers too will be in action on Day 5, but towards the late evening.
Indian badminton players Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa were knocked out from the women's doubles event on Tuesday.
Therefore, India would expect the shuttlers to come good on Day 5.
Lakshya Sen will be facing a do-or-die game against Jonatan Christie in the men's singles group stage match.
As per the fixture, if Lakshya wins the game, he will potentially face HS Pranoy in the second round. PV Sindhu, who is aiming a third badminton medal in the Olympics will be in action as well.
But apart from the shuttlers India will pin hopes on boxers Lovlina and Nishant Dev, revealed sources.
So far, India with two Bronze medals is positioned at 33rd rank. Japan with 7 Gold and total of 13 medals top the chart. China and Australia both with 6 Gold medals each are positioned second and third till Tuesday.
