Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: The process of filing of nomination papers for the three-tier panchayat elections in Odisha concluded on Friday. As many as 162297 ward members have filed their nomination while 34613 sarpanch candidates have also filed their nomination. Similarly the number of nominations for panchayat samiti members and zilla parishad members stood day at 28153 and 3999 respectively. The nomination filing process by the candidates has started on Monday. The scrutiny of the papers will be done on January 22 and the final list of candidates shall be published on January 25. The panchayat polls are scheduled to be held in five phases in the state on February 16, 18, 20, 22, and 24.
