Bhubaneswar, April 3: The Assembly today witnessed uproar over the strengthening of border areas. Speaker Dr Surya Narayan Patro had to convene an all party meeting to ensure smooth conduct of the House following frequent adjournments over the issue. Opposition MLAs trooped into the well of the House demanding constitution of a committee ensuring protection of social security in the border areas. However, BJD's Chief Whip Pramila Mallick said that there are special committees for looking after border area problems in West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh. Hence, there is no need for constitution of another committee in this regard. However, the Opposition members insisted on their demand and caused uproar in the House. Finding it difficult to run the House Speaker Dr Patro adjourned the proceedings to convene an all party meeting to resolve the deadlock.
