Kathua, J&K | Sept 29: In an ongoing encounter in a remote village of Kathua district, Jammu & Kashmir, one terrorist has been killed, the Jammu-Kashmir Police confirmed. The operation is still underway as security forces continue their search for remaining terrorists in the region.
The clash also resulted in the death of Head Constable Bashir Ahmed, while two other police officers sustained injuries. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Operations, Sukhbir, and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Niaz Ahmed were among the injured and have been airlifted for treatment.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Anand Jain, assured that all necessary measures have been taken to prevent any disruption during the third phase of the assembly polls in the Union Territory. ADGP Jain reiterated, "We are continuing our operations to ensure no terror attacks or violence occur during the upcoming polls."
The encounter began on Saturday in Kog (Mandli) village, where intense gunfire between terrorists and security forces led to the tragic loss of police personnel and injuries to others. Authorities remain on high alert as the operation unfolds.
