One more elephant succumbs to Haemorrhagic Septicaemia in Odisha sanctuary, toll rises to 5

Bhawanipatna, Feb 13: Taking the death toll to five, one more elephant died due to Haemorrhagic Septicaemia in Karlapat Sanctuary in Kalahandi district, the forest officials informed today. Four female elephants were found dead in suspicious conditions in a span of twelve days and the new death took the toll to five. After preliminary examination, it was found Haemorrhagic Septicaemia (bacterial disease) caused death of the four elephants. The government has deployed a team headed by professors from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) to conduct a high level probe into the matter.
