Kendrapara, Oct 21: A 43-year-old woman died of ‘shock’ after police arrested her son for torturing a man and his minor son inhumanly organizing Kangaroo court on a theft case.
The deceased has been identified as Annapurna Biswal.
According to reports, minutes after accused Sujeet’s arrest, his mother complained of chest pain. Soon she was rushed to Kendrapara DHH and then shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as her condition worsened.
However, doctors at the hospital declared Annapurna dead due to cardiac arrest. The deceased’s family has requested the police to allow Sujeet to perform the last rites of his mother.
Pattamundai police on Thursday arrested seven persons, including a couple of Sarapanch for their involvement in torturing a man and his minor son inhumanly organizing Kangaroo court on the theft case. A 17-year-old boy, the son of Gangadhar Nath, of Bijay Nagar village, was working at Sahupada based –Mahadev Filling station. A sum of Rs 1.97 lakh was stolen on October 8 last and the owner of the petrol pump Ashok Pati suspected that the minor son of Gangadhar Nath had committed theft.
On October 11 the minor boy was assaulted brutally.
