Odisha: Vigilance traces properties worth Rs 1.02 crore of GPTA including 60 plots

Bhubaneswar, Oct 11: Vigilance sleuths have traced properties worth Rs 1.02 crore of Bikash Kumar Behera, Gram Panchayat Technical Assistant (GPTA) of Tileibani block in Deogarh district. Vigilance sleuths on Monday have conducted raids at three places including the office of Behera on allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income. Behera was found in possession of assets worth Rs 1.02 crore including one double-storied building in Deogarh, 60 plots including 59 plots in Deogarh, bank deposits over Rs 6.61 lakh, insurance deposits over Rs 21.15 lakh, gold ornaments weighing 386 grams worth over Rs 7.83 lakh and cash of Rs 2.99 lakh. Vigilance sleuths said that the search process is still continuing. “The simultaneous searches were conducted on the basis of a court warrant and further investigation in the case is continuing. We are ascertaining the actual income of the officials,” said a vigilance official.  He also said that the income of the official would be calculated to ascertain the gap between the cost of assets and actual income.
