Odisha Vigilance files charge-sheet against dismissed IFS officer Abhay Pathak, son in DA case

Bhubaneswar, Aug 22: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday filed charge-sheet against former additional PCCF Abhay Kant Pathak and his son Akash Kumar Pathak in connection with disproportionate assets and TATA job fraud case registered against them.

The anti-corruption agency has filed a 5000-page charge-sheet in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

The state government had dismissed the IFS officer after the Vigilance case.

This case was registered by Odisha Vigilance for possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Pathak during his tenure as Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Plan, Programme & Afforestation), Odisha.

During the course of the investigation, house searches were conducted at far flung areas in 16 places i.e. seven places in Odisha, two places in Bihar, six places in Mumbai/Pune, Maharastra and one place in Rajasthan. Relevant materials, documents and information relating to assets, income and expenditure were seized during the search. 

After completion of investigation, Pathak was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the tune of over Rs 14 crore. 

During investigation, more than Rs 10 crore of cash deposits and account transfers of around Rs 5 crore in different bank accounts of Pathak and his son Akash were found. Both accused persons had failed to provide satisfactory explanation in this regard, said Vigilance.
