Bhubaneswar, Feb 9: The Odisha government will file a writ petition before the Supreme Court (SC) challenging the notification of Andhra Pradesh to conduct panchayat election in three villages of Kotia panchayat in Koraput district.
The Law Department has writen to advocate on record (AOR) Sibo Sankar Mishra in this connection.
The Law department has engaged the AOR to file writ petition before the Supreme Court of India challenging the notification of State Election Commission, Andhra Pradesh to hold panchayat election in 3 villages of Kotia which are within the territory of the State of Odisha, being the part and parcel thereof.
The neighbouring state has gone ahead with gram panchayat election process in three villages under Odisha’s Kotia gram panchayat. Sources said that Andhra has encroached into three border villages of Kotia under Koraput district limit. It has been continuously nominating panchayat representatives from Kotia area.
