Odisha to draw Centre's attention for assistance to families of deceased Covid warriors

Bhubaneswar, Oct 7: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today reviewed the management of Covid through video conferencing. The Chief Minister also lauded the commitment of the Covid warriors who have been working in the fight against Covid for the last eight months and the state government will provide compassionate assistance to the families of the Covid warriors. It is to be noted that the Central Government has announced to provide Rs 50 lakh as compassionate assistance to the family of the martyred warrior. Accordingly, the state government sent the list of 60 warriors killed during the Covid management duty to the Government of India. But the Indian government has agreed to help only one martyr. The Chief Minister informed that the state government would again draw the attention of the Central Government in this regard. The Chief Minister said that the Covid Protocol has now been standardized. Therefore, the Chief Minister emphasized in the need to improve the health of people recovering from covid. In addition,78 percent of the people in the state are currently under home isolation . Therefore, the Chief Minister advised the senior officials to contact the patients in the house guard and the patients in the Covid Hospital directly and ask for their well-being. The chief minister emphasized the need to focus on anti-viral drugs. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction that the number of cures in the state now exceeds 2 lakhs. The national cure rate is 85 percent, while the state's recovery rate is 89 percent. In the last eight months, 36 lakh tests have been conducted in the state, of which 6.75 per cent have been tested positive in Odisha.
