Bhubaneswar, April 22: Pruthivi Ballav Patnaik, son of the three-time Chief Minister J.B. Patnaik, has stepped into the political arena with vigor in the Begunia assembly segment
Pruthivi Ballav commenced his election campaign in Begunia, an assembly segment falling under the Bhubaneswar parliamentary constituency.
The campaign launch on Sunday coincided with the ninth death anniversary of his father.
Pruthivi paid homage to his father by garlanding the statue of the late Chief Minister Janaki Ballav Patnaik in Khurdha. This symbolic gesture marked his entry into active politics.
Joined by Yasir Nawaz, the Congress MP candidate from Bhubaneswar, Pruthivi led a massive bike rally. The rally covered areas such as Begunia, Pichukuli, Rajsunakhela, Bolagarh, and Bijipur.
Pruthivi criticized the BJD government led by CM Naveen Patnaik for its misdeeds and misgovernance over the past 24 years.
He highlighted the positive contributions made by his father, JB Patnaik, in the Begunia assembly segment.
Pruthivi urged the voters of Begunia and Bolagarh to elect him as their representative.
His first meeting evoked significant attendance, especially from minority communities.
The Begunia-Bolagarh assembly segment was once a Congress stronghold. Janaki Ballav Patnaik, Pruthivi’s father, was elected twice from this seat—first in a by-election in 1995 and then in 2004.
Pruthivi Ballav’s campaign aims to regain the Begunia assembly seat for the Congress party, drawing upon his family’s legacy and the historical significance of the constituency
