Odisha provides Rs 920 crore assistance to farmers under KALIA scheme

Bhubaneswar, May 14: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today released Rs 920 crore in accounts of 42 lakh farmers under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme. Patnaik said that farmers have played an important role in economy of during Covid-19 pandemic. “I always wish increase in income of farmers for which I have been initiating steps. We are passing through the second wave of Covid-19 for which lockdown has been imposed. But there is no lockdown for farming sector. So I urge farmers to continue farming by adhering to Covid norms and avail government benefits meant for farmers,” he said. KALIA or “Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation” scheme was launched by the Odisha government for farmer’s welfare in 2019.
