Odisha PCC demands white paper on cess collected for labourers

Bhubaneswar, Aug 9: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) on Monday demanded to release a white paper on the amount of cess collected for labour welfare in the state. Besides, the PCC has sought Accountant General (AG) audit on the cess utilized in the last ten years. In a press meet organized on Monday, PCC Spokesperson and President of Congress Seva Dal Arya Kumar Gyanendra said the UPA government enacted the Unorganised worker's social security Act in 2008 that came into force in Odisha after 2011. At the same time, the Odisha government is providing Rs 1500 and other safety outfits to the wagers that is collected from the public as cess. Similarly, the state necessitates a minimal wage roll for its labour resources. State Congress demanded a uniform and equitable wage mechanism for the labourers that will cater equal wages for equal jobs.
