Balangir, Aug 9: A minor boy of Balangir had to carry his father’s body to the graveyard on a bullock cart after it remained unattended by the relatives. The incident took place on Sunday at Padhela village under Maruan gram panchayat. Sources said Kalayan from Chhattisgarh was living with his family at Padhela village after he married a local girl. Meanwhile, Kalyan succumbed to some unknown disease at Santha Bhimabhoi Medical College and Hospital on Sunday. The body was brought to Padhela village for last rites in the afternoon. Following which, the three minor children sought the help of relatives and neighbours for the cremation of the body. However, nobody came forward to carry it to the crematorium ground. They all discarded the appeal of the bereaved family. Ultimately, a neighbour lent his bullock cart to carry the body. Getting no other option, Kalyan’s minor son loaded the body on the cart and left for the graveyard in order to perform the last rites of his father. Worth mentioning, natives and relatives denied touching the body since Kalyan belongs to another race. At the same time, a few did not touch him due to Corona scare.
