Odisha: Man held for duping people by promising jobs in Police

Bhubaneswar, July 11: A 45-year-old man was arrested for allegedly cheating lakhs on the pretext of proving jobs in the Police department. The accused has been identified as Sadananada Behera, a resident of Begunia in Khordha district. Police said that Behera while staying in Patrapada area had impersonated himself as a teacher having good relationship with higher officials in the Odisha government. Behera had taken Rs 2 lakh from the victim identified as Santosh Patnaik last year promising him job in police. The accused had also taken lakhs of rupees from the friends of the victim in similar fashion. “However, the accused changed his residence from Patrapada to Andharua. On Friday, the duped victims found him and asked to return the money. Later they abducted him in a car. The wife of Behera lodged a complaint with Chandaka police station and we subsequently rescued Behera. We have registered two separate cases and arrested three persons including Behera,” said a police official.
