Jagatsinghpur, Aug 9: A man from Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha, who secured government job over four decades ago allegedly by using his brother's qualification certificate, was arrested by police on Monday. The accused, identified as Basanta Kumar Panda (56) of Manguli village under Biridi police limits in the district, has been arrested after around 27 years of his retirement from Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) as a Naik on February 28, 1995. Biridi police IIC, Niranjan Mallik said a case was registered against Basanta in May following a court order and investigations were on. “The investigation revealed that the accused had got job in the CRPF using his brother's certificates, following which he was arrested on Monday and forwarded to court,” said the IIC. According to the complaint filed by Basanta’s nephew, Nalini Prasad Panda (36), son of Hemanta Panda, the accused had used his brother Hemanta's certificate and documents to get a job in the CRPF in 1978. Hemanta died on July 9 in 2015. Besides, the accused has mentioned Hemanta's name in the educational certificates of his only son and a daughter while his name has been mentioned in the certificate of another daughter. However, Basanta's name has been mentioned as father in the voter identity card of his son. And similar forgeries were found in his land record and bank passbook. After knowing all these forgeries, Nalini asked Basanta about it in last February. But, he threatened Nalini and said his children will get share from the properties of late Hemanta. Later, Nalini filed a petition in a local court and the court directed police to investigate the matter registering a case.
