Odisha likely to experience adverse weather condition for four days from Sunday

Bhubaneswar, Feb. 22: Several parts of Odisha may experience adverse weather condition for a period of four days from Sunday due to merging of dry hot wind blowing from northwestern India and warm-moist air flow from the Bay of Bengal, the Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC), SOA Deemed to be University, said on Saturday. “This is likely to cause thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and rain in the interior districts of the state from Sunday. There is also probability of hailstorm on Monday and Tuesday,” Dr. Sarat Chandra Sahu, Director of CEC, said in a bulletin issued here. Dr. Sahu said an upper air trough was approaching the eastern coast even as there was probability of strengthening of south-easterly wind from the Bay of Bengal from Monday. The districts of Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Deogarh and Sambalpur are expected to be affected by thunderstorm and rain in the afternoon or night of Monday while the districts of Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kendrapada, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Puri and Jagatsinghpur could experience such weather conditions on Tuesday, he said. “Fluctuation of day and night temperature may be observed from Monday till Wednesday depending on the weather condition in a particular area while rise in day temperature may start again from Thursday,” Dr. Sahu said.
