Bhubaneswar, Aug 14: Odisha lacks grass root training in cricket. As a result, no more players from Odisha are groomed for the national team said former Captain of Team India, Mohammad Azharuddin on Saturday. On his visit to Bhubaneswar, Azharuddin said,Odisha has not sponsored any national players after Debashish Mohanty and Shiv Sunder Das. Odisha has got every prospect and infrastructure for Cricket. However, more technical training in the grassroot level can elevate the rising stars of the state, he added. At the same time, he applauded the Hockey team of Odisha for their victory in the Tokyo Olympics. Worth mentioning, Azharuddin was invited by the Utkal Gourav Foundation, Bhubaneswar to supervise the ongoing project of Cricket Academy at Khordha. At the same time, he also visited the KP Global School near Barunei where an International Cricket Academy is to be established.
