Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: Odia IPS officer Rashmiranjan Swain on Tuesday took over as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir.
Swain, who hails from Rourkela assumed the charge as DGP of J&K police from Dilbag Singh who retired from service on Tueasday. The new DGP was presented a guard of honour at the police headquarters in Srinagar.
Worth mentioning, Swain held key positions in the Jammu and Kashmir police before assuming the charge of DGP. Swain had also served as SDPO Kothi Bagh, SP in Ramban, Kargil, Poonch, SSP Kathua, SSP Jammu, DIG Vigilance among other key posts. Swain went on Central deputation in November 2006 and held key positions.
In June 2020, Swain joined the Jammu and Kashmir Police as the head of the CID wing and today took over as the DGP Jammu and Kashmir.
