Sambalpur, Aug 24: Hirakud dam authorities, on Saturday, opened eight more sluice gates of the reservoir as water level of the dam continues to increase following rainfall in the upper catchment areas of the Mahandadi.
At present, the excess floodwater is being released through 14 gates from the Hirakud dam in order to manage the prescribed water-level of the reservoir.
Worth mentioning, the Hirakud Dam authorities on Thursday had opened as many as six sluice gates for the second time in the season, in view of assessing water inputs from the incessant rain received in Chhattisgarh.
