Odisha Health Secretary writes to Bihar counterpart to cooperate in fake medicine probe

Bhubaneswar, Sept 22: Odisha Health Secretary Shalini Pandit on Thursday wrote to his Bihar counterpart on fake medicine, illegally sold out across the state. With reference to the seizure of huge cache of fake Telma-40, Telma-M tablets, the Health Secretary has urged the Bihar Health Secretary to take stock of the matter. Apart from it, he has asked the Bihar health authorities to co-operate in the probe initiated by Odisha Drugs Control Department. Sources said that the Odisha Drugs Control authorities have seized a huge quantity of fake medicines from a few stockists in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Following this, a high-level probe was initiated following the direction of the Health Minister. Acting on it, a team of drugs control officials has left for Bihar to unearth the route of the fake medicines which are allegedly being peddled to Odisha from Bihar and West Bengal-based pharmaceuticals.
