Odisha govt has spent around Rs 313 crore for advt in 5 years

Bhubaneswar, Feb 26: Odisha government has spent Rs 312.95 crore on advertising in the last five years. Information and Public Relations Minister Raghunandan Das told Odisha Assembly on Thursday in response to a question raised by Rengali MLA Nauri Nayak that the amount has been spent for public information regarding launching and stone laying of various developmental projects, various public awareness programmes and to inform beneficiaries about government schemes. As per the data Rs 3,129,591,613 has been spent on government advertisement during the last five years (2016-17 to 2020-21) The government spent Rs 40, 47,61,132 in 2016-17 financial year and 61,8767351 in 2017-18. However, the spending in advertising was as high as Rs 1,21,14,63,434 in 2018-19. Significantly, it was the election year. Similarly, Rs 56,50,29,706 was sanctioned in 2019-20. Rs 32,95,69,990 has been disbursed between April 1 and February 18 in 2020-21 financial year.
