Bhubaneswar, Apr 7: Five days after resigning from Congress, former Odisha Minister Ganeswar Behera today joined the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

The senior leader was officially inducted into the conch party fold in a special programme held at Shankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

Notably, Behera had resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party on April 2.

According to sources, Behera is likely to fight the upcoming Odisha Assembly elections from Kendrapara seat on a BJD ticket. This assembly segment is reserved for the scheduled caste candidates.

Behera had contested the 2019 polls from Kendrapara seat on a Congress ticket. However, he lost to BJD’s Shashi Bhusan Behera.
