Keonjhar, July 17: In another instance of superstition, a devotee severed his tongue in a bid to appease Goddess Tarini to fulfill his wishes at the Ghatagaon Temple in Odisha’s Keonjhar district.
As per reports, the incident took place on Tuesday. Bijay Pradah, a resident of Ganjam district, arrived at the Maa Tarini shrine on Tuesday evening to offer his prayers.
Following the puja, he pulled out a blade from his pocket and cut off his tongue in an attempt to appease the goddess.
Temple employees quickly intervened and rushed Bijay to the Ghatagaon Community Health Centre. His condition is reported to be stable.
