Bhubaneswar, Feb 20: With the elections looming closer, political fervor is reaching new heights in the state of Odisha. The Odisha Congress is actively galvanizing its grassroots support, mounting opposition against the current BJD government.
Scheduled for February 21, the Women Samavesh of Congress is set to take place in the capital city, graced by the presence of Mahila Congress's national president, Alka Lamba.
Sarat Pattanayak, the PCC president, emphasized that the primary objective of this gathering is to confront the pressing issue of women's atrocities prevailing in the state.
Minakshi Bahinipati, president of Odisha Mahila Congress, announced that the Samavesh will occur outside the Congress Bhawan, attracting thousands of female party workers from various districts.
Bahinipati disclosed plans for the women's wing to encircle Naveen Niwas, the residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, on the same day. She vehemently criticized the BJD government, accusing it, under Naveen Patnaik's leadership, of exploiting women solely for electoral gains.
Despite holding power for 24 years, fundamental concerns regarding women's safety and security remain unattended. The Mahila Congress aims to spotlight these critical issues through its grand Samavesh in the capital city.
