Bhubaneswar, Dec 3: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to the first president of India and Bharat Ratna Dr. Rajendra Prasad on his birth anniversary on Friday.
Taking to the Twitter handled, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted, “Humble tributes to great freedom fighter and first President of India, Bharat Ratna Dr. #RajendraPrasad on his birth anniversary. His Gandhian principles, humility, leadership in drafting our Constitution, and contribution towards nation-building will be remembered forever.”
PM Narendra Modi also paid his homage to the former President saying, “Tributes to the first President of Independent India and unique talent Bharat Ratna Rajendra Prasad on his birth anniversary. He made special contributions to the freedom struggle of the country. His life was dedicated to the interests of the nation. He will always remain a source of inspiration for the country.”
Born on December 3, 1884, Prasad was the first President of India, in office from 1950 to 1962. He is the only person to have held office for two terms as the President of India.
