Bhubaneswar, July 10: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed efforts to make Odisha a leading industrial state in the country and to create ample employment opportunities for the youth. The directive was issued during a review of the Industries Department and the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department's programmes at Lok Seva Bhawan.
Chief Minister Majhi highlighted Odisha's vast potential for industrialisation, stressing the importance of developing port-based and modern-age industries, alongside traditional metal and mineral-based sectors. He emphasised the need for regional development and a supportive environment for industrial growth.
"Odisha has immense opportunities to boost industrialisation and provide employment to the youth. We must prioritise the establishment of port-based and modern-age industries," he stated.
Majhi acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi's special focus on Odisha, describing the state as the gateway to the country's development over the next 25 years. He called for immediate steps to enhance the infrastructure needed for industrialisation, advocating for labour-intensive industries to generate local employment.
He also suggested leveraging Central Government schemes in the MSME sector, such as Mudra, Swanidhi, and Viswakarma, to support new entrepreneurs.
The meeting was attended by Industries Minister Sampad Charan Swain, MSME Minister Gokulanand Mallik, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunj Bihari Dhal, Principal Secretary of Industries Hemant Sharma, and Principal Secretary of MSME Saswat Mishra, among others.
