Bhubaneswar, July 19: A two-day meeting of the State Executive Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was attended by BJP President and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, along with  other senior party leaders.

Among the attendees were Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Union Ministers Jual Oram and Dharmendra Pradhan, Deputy Chief Ministers K.V. Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, the party’s regional in-charge Sunil Bansal, Odisha in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar, and other state government ministers.

This marks the state executive committee meeting of the BJP since it ended the 25-year rule of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government and formed its own government in Odisha. The meeting is especially significant as it follows the formation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government at the Centre for a third consecutive term and the establishment of the BJP government in Odisha under Chief Minister Majhi.

In his address, BJP President Nadda emphasized the party’s commitment to serving the people of Odisha, who played a crucial role in bringing the BJP to power both at the Centre and in the state. "The people of Odisha have given you the power and responsibility to change Odisha’s image and fate. I fully believe that the BJP government under the leadership of CM Mohan Majhi and through your actions will be able to transform the image and fate of Odisha,” Nadda told party leaders.

Nadda also criticized the Congress, highlighting the period before 2014 when he claimed the Union government was plagued by policy paralysis, corruption, and 'Parivarvad' (nepotism). He recalled the Emergency imposed by the Congress government in 1975, alleging that 1.25 lakh people were imprisoned during that time. Nadda labeled the Congress as the 'Bhakshak' (destroyer) of the Constitution, accusing the party of having no regard for constitutional values. "Ask Naveen Babu how the Congress party had jailed his father Biju Babu during the Emergency,” Nadda said.

Furthermore, Nadda accused the Congress of lacking genuine concern for tribal communities while pretending to advocate for their rights.
