Bhubaneswar, June 2: An octogenarian granny is waiting for a caretaker who will take care of her orphan granddaughter. She wants to hand over the ward before her death to a patron who will provide care and bring up the minor girl. The elderly woman has been identified as Labanga Pala who lives in a hut in the Tarini slum near VSS Nagar in Bhubaneswar. According to Labanga, she has been taking care of an orphan girl named Sushi (dummy) after her mother left her out before six years. Since then, she has been nourishing the girl collecting alms from begging. However, Labanga feels weak to move on now. In this situation, Sushi remains in starvation most of the days. On the other hand, her care, education and social security always burden her head. As a result, she is keen to hand over the orphan to someone who will care the girl as his/her daughter. ‘I am at the doorstep of death. On the other hand, I’m afraid of Corona. I want to hand over the girl safely when I’m alive, said Labanga.
