North Korea bans laughing, shopping, drinking for 11 days: Know the reason

Pyongyang, Dec, 17: North Korea has banned all kinds of happy activities like laughing, drinking, and shopping for 11 days starting from Friday as a mourning period in 10th anniversary of former leader Kim Jong-Il. According to Radio Free Asia, all leisure activities have been banned for the next 11 days and If anyone breaks the rule will be arrested like every year. "Even if your family member dies during the mourning period, you are not allowed to cry out loud and the body must be taken out after the mourning period is over. People cannot even celebrate their own birthdays if they fall within the mourning period," said a resident of North Korea. On the eve of Il’s death anniversary, Kim Jong-Un paid respect to his late father at a mausoleum where the embalmed body of Kim Jong-Il lies in the state along with that of Kim Il Sung. “The mourning period is observed for 10 days every year but it will be observed for 11 days since this year is the 10 anniversary mark of Kim Jong-Il” said a North Korean Resident. Kim Jong-Il ruled North Korea from 1994 to 2011. He died due to a heart attack at the age of 69 on December 17, 2011. He was succeeded by his youngest son Kim Jong-un.
