No threat of possible flood in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Sep 19: The Odisha government on Sunday ruled out the possibility of any alarming threat from the impending floods in several parts of the state. The government said as the water level is receding in several rivers, there is no threat of medium-level flood in the state. Diren Samal, chief engineer of Water Resources department, said the water level is receding in major rivers including Mahanadi, Brahmani, Baitarani and Subarnarekha. He said the inflow of water into the Hirakud reservoir from Chhattisgarh has been gradually waning. Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a yellow warning for the strong possibility of torrential rain at one or two places in several districts of the state.
