Bargarh, June 7: Three brothers pull plough on their shoulders for the master at Machhimara village under Sohela block in Bargarh districts. They have been identified as the three sons of Balimiki Pradhan namely Tahasi Pradhan, Ranjit Pradhan and Sanjit Pradhan of the Pradhan Sahi. The three brothers cultivate the master’s land as sharecropper and provide food to the poverty stricken family by tilling land manually without any bullock. The trio draw the plough with their shoulders in turn as they can’t afford for a pair of bullocks. Sources said, Balmiki has got a bigger family including six sons. He has no farmland at all.As a result two of his sons have migrated to Tamilnadu in search of wages while one is working as a daily wager in drinking water supply. At the same time, the trio Tahasi, Ranjit and Sanjit are cultivating a few acres of land as sharecropper. However, Ranjit who is a physically challenged one, is pursuing teacher’s training in Bargarh DIET. He is helping his brothers to manage the plough while they pull it singlehanded with their shoulders. ‘We have nothing else to manage the bigger families. Any way, we have to harvest food for the year from sharecropping, so that we can live and afford for education, said Ranjit.
