Puri, Jan 21: Devotees won’t have to produce Covid negative report for darshan of Trinity at Puri Srimandir from January 21. This was decided at a high-level meeting chaired by Collector, CDMO, Sub-Collector, officials of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) and representatives of servitors. Devotees can visit Puri Jagannath Temple from 7 am, January 21 without Covid negative report that was mandatory since reopening of the temple. However, other restrictions imposed earlier will remain effective. Similarly, special arrangements will be made to facilitate the darshan for elderly people. They can visit the Trinity in a specified queue. The administration also increased the number of visitors to the temple to 30,000 per day. Denizens of Puri will be allowed to visit the temple early in the morning between 6 am and 7 am. But the temple will remain closed for public visit on Sunday every week for sanitisation work. Notably, the district administration had facilitated for darshan of 17,000 devotees in a day. But only 8,000 visitors were able to enter Srimandir by January 7 since it opened doors to non-Puri residents on January 3.
