Mumbai, July 20: India pacer Mohammed Shami, who underwent an operation a few months back, is recovering fast and perhaps getting ready again for the gruelling international cricket schedule again.
Shami's's stern reply to former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and ex player Hasan Raza, who targeted Indian pacers, indicate that Shami is all geared up again for future challenges both on and off the field.
It can be recalled that during the recent T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies, where India emerged champions, Inzamam claimed that India's young left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh could only reverse swing the ball in the 15th or 16th over, due to ball tampering.
Inzamam had referred to Arshdeep's spell against Australia in the T20 World Cp 2024. He alleged that unless the ball is tampered, it is not possible for a bowler to get reverse swing in the 15th or 16th over. The former Pakistan skipper even urged the umpires to strictly monitor such acts on the field.
Interestingly, another former Pakistan player Hasan Raza had also raised questions about Indian pacers, especially Mohammed Shami's success in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 20243, which was held in India.
Raza hit the headlines by alleging that Indian bowlers were provided a different ball, which helped them get extra movements and attain more success.
Shami, who was India's highest wicket taker in the ODI World Cup 2023, has strongly condemned such remarks against Indian pacers by former Pakistan players.
Shami appealed former Pakistan players to refrain from such unnecessary acts and termed it as ''çartoongiri".
Shami however admitted that India and Pakistan being arch rivals, there is bound to be extra pressure whenever they face each other. Since India have been beating Pakistan consistently in recent years, so few former Pakistan players are perhaps making such baseless allegations , he said. But such activities are neither good for the game of cricket, nor it can improve Pakistan team's performance, Shami added.
