New Delhi, Jan 23: The four convicts of the sensational Nirbhaya gang rape case kept mum when asked about their last wishes, sources at Tihar jail said on Thursday. The hanging of four convicts - Mukesh Singh, Vinay Sharma, Akshay SIngh and Pawan Gupta - set to take place on February 1. The development came a day after the Ministry of Home Affairs moved the Supreme Court for fixing a seven-day deadline for executing death penalty of condemned prisoners. The top court on January 20 had rejected the special leave petition (SLP) filed by Pawan, one of the convicted. Pawan had filed the SLP in the Supreme Court praying for excluding him from the death sentence claiming that he was a minor at the time of occurrence of Nirbhaya gang rape and murder. The apex court, however, rejected the petition saying that there was nothing new in the case and he was not a minor, as claimed. This order paved the way for execution of the death warrant of the four Nirbhaya convicts on February 1 at 6 am.
