New Delhi, Dec 18: Upcoming Nippon Steel Project by the steel tycoon Arcelor Mittal will usher in a new era of development in Kendrapara region and Odisha as a whole, said Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday. Expressing pleasure on Odisha government’s administrative approval to the project, Pradhan said, the 24 MTPA Steel Project is a brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a token of his commitment for the Eastern India, whatever he had assured before the general election. At the same time, the project will satisfy the Atmanirbhar Bharat of the Prime Minister, providing employment to at least 16,000 local youths both directly and indirectly with upliftment of the human resources, Pradhan added. Elaborating the venture of Arcelor Mittal in Odisha Pradhan said, the groundwork for its Mega Steel Plant in Odisha was begun from 2019. Meanwhile, Kendrapara was selected as the most suitable site for the plant while he was heading the Steel Ministry, he said.
