Phulbani, Oct 28: At least 54 passengers onboard had a close shave when a night bus driver collapsed all of a sudden of cardiac attack.
The incident took place at Paburia village around 3 km away from G Udayagiri, in Odisha’s Kandhamal district at late night on Friday.
The deceased driver has been identified as Sana Pradhan (52).
Sources said, the night coach bus was heading towards Bhubaneswar from Sarangagada in the Kandhamal district. Meanwhile the helper noticed that the driver was getting unconscious after sustaining acute pain. The driver reportedly collapsed within no time with holding the steering of the speeding bus. As a result the bus hit the safety wall of the bridge violently. However, it was stuck luckily near the pavement with a tremendous sound.
The driver was rushed to the Tikabali Community Health Centre (CHC) for resuscitation where he was declared dead due to cardiac failure. Subsequently, the passengers were conveniently sent to their destinations with the help of police and administration.
