NIA conducts raids at multiple locations across Mumbai in Dawood link

Mumbai, May 9: The National Investigation Agency on Monday conducted several raids at multiple locations across Mumbai in connection with multiple people associated with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim with seizure of some important documents. Six people detained by the NIA from different locations in Mumbai were being interrogated, said sources. The NIA took Dawood’s close aide Guddu Pathan into custody. It also detained another associate Salim Fruit. Other people taken into custody include Suhail Khandwani, who is the Managing Trustee Mahim Dargah & Haji Ali Dargah, one Sameer Angora from Delite Apartments in Bandra, and a person named Kayyum from Mahim area. The agency on Monday morning began raids at as many as 12 locations linked to Ibrahim’s links and some hawala operators. Areas where NIA raids are being conducted include Nagpada, Goregaon, Borivali, Santacruz, Mumbra, Bhendi Bazar, and other places. The agency had registered a case against hawala operators and drug peddlers with links to Ibrahim back in February this year, it said.
