Wellington, Sep 6: India's T20 World Cup 2024 winning Batting Coach and former Team India opener Vikram Rathour will be a member of the New Zealand coaching staff during their one-off Test against Afghanistan in Noida.
The announcement was made by the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on Friday. Rathour is expected to help the Kiwi batters with the local knowledge.
The Black Caps will play the solitary Test at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground from September 9 to 13. Then they would head to Sri Lanka for a two-Test series.
Although, the New Zealand Cricket announced that Rathour will be with their national team for the Afghanistan Test, but it is expected that he may be with the team for the three-match Test series against India, starting from October 16.
But Rathour was not the only support staff hired by the NZC for the subcontinent tours, former Sri Lanka spinner Rangana Herath has been roped in as a spin-bowling coach for the three upcoming Tests in Asia. Herath replaced former Pakistan spinner and coach Saqlain Mushtaq, who pulled out due to an offer from the Pakistan Cricket Board.
