Bhandaripokhari, 4/11: Death of the minor girl, who was said to have been rescued from Kochila river bed in Bhadrak district, has taken a new turn with the two youths who had admitted her in the hospital absconding. The Inspector General Police (IG) of Eastern range has sought a report from the Bhadrak Superitendent of Police (SP) within 24 hours.
A minor girl from Ahiyas area was rescued in critical condition from the Kochila river bed at Arjunpur under Dhamnagar block of Bhadrak district. Two youths had admited her in the Dhamnagar Community Health Centre. They had said that the girl had met with an accident and they had brought her to the hospital after rescuing her. She was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cutack as her condition deteriorated.
The girl has in the meanwhile died in the hospital and the above two youths have absconded. Now the entire episode has turned mysterious. It has been suspected that the minor girl was kidnapped and an attempt was made to kill her giving the shape of a road accident.
Eye witness acounts said that two youths were seen speeding away in a bike along with the victim. They were suspected of having attempted to murder her by hitting a vehicle against her, said Mir Sarafat Ali, the victim’s father.
Habibnagar police in the meanwhile has arrested one of the accused and handed him over to Mangalpur police in Jajpur district.But the prime accused Saikh Nan and two of his associates have absconded.
A person had twitted about the alleged police inaction to the Eastern range IG and he had entrusted the probe to the Bhadrak SP. But Bhadrak SP had replied that no such incident had taken place in his district, it had happened in Jajpur district.This alleged irresponsible statement of Bhadark SP has triggered sharp reaction in the social media following which the IG has asked Bhadrak SP to probe into the incident and send a report within 24 hours.
