Naveen launches disbursement of financial assistance to farmers under KALIA scheme

Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: Odisha government today transferred Rs 1272 crore to the accounts of 53 lakh small & marginal farmers & landless labourers under the KALIA scheme. Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik today disbursed the assistance to the farmers through video conferencing. KALIA or “Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation” scheme was launched by the Odisha government for farmer's welfare in 2019. Patnaik while disbursing the assistance said that farmer welfare has remained as his main agenda. “Most of the sectors were badly affected during the pandemic but the farmers managed to rescue our economy by their hard labour and dedication. We have been demanding the union government to double the MSP. Besides, several initiatives have been initiated to bolster the marketing infrastructure for agricultural products,” said Patnaik. He further urged the farmers to take benefit of government schemes and help in progress of the state. The CM also interacted with five farmers during the occasion.
