Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: Odisha is going to get its first narco analysis test center soon.
A Narco analysis lab is going to be established in the Capital Hospital Bhubaneswar by the end of November.
Essential equipment and ancillary apparatuses have been already imported to the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) at Mancheswar industrial estate. Soon they will be shifted to the Operation Theatre (OT) of the Capital Hospital for installation wherein all the narco tests will be conducted, said sources.
Technicians including psychiatrists, psychoanalysts and anesthesiologists of the hospital are currently being imparted training for the crime detection process through the lab.
According to the official sources, the tests will begin as early as the next month.
Director of Capital Hospital Laxmidhar Sahu said primary infrastructure has been readied for the installation of the system.
“We had a review meeting at the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) yesterday. Our doctors are undertaking training on their operation. However, the test center will be probably functional by the end of November,” Sahu added.
Forensic Lab expert, Muralidhar Nayak said, “Narco testing lab will be a significant milestone in crime investigation. For the last 30 years, we could only conduct polygraph or lie detection tests at the SFSL in Bhubaneswar.”
