Koraput, Oct 22: An accused in a murder case reportedly fled away from custody of police in Odisha’s Koraput district late night on Sunday.
The escaped accused has been identified as Rahul Bagh, who was on the run for years in connection with a kidnapping &murder case.
Sources said, one Bikun of Koraput town had left his house along with some others last year. As he did not return home, his family searched for him at all possible places. Unable to find him, they filed a complaint at Koraput Town police station alleging that Rahul Bagh of Hinaguda in the town had kidnapped Bikun.
Later, the body of Bikun was found from a forest area in Bilaghati on Jeypore-Koraput National Highway 26. Rahul was absconding since the day Bikun went missing.
On Saturday, Bikun’s family found Rahul in the town and caught hold of him. Later, they handed him over to the police.
However, Rahul managed to give a slip to the police and escaped from Koraput Town police station within an hour of his arrest.
The police have launched a manhunt to trace Rahul out.
